Ticket holders on Court Two will get to see world number one Ashleigh Barty in action today as she faced Alison Riske for a place in the WImbledon quarter finals.
Despite winning the French Open last month, and being top seed at Wimbledon, Australian Barty will be playing in the fourth round today for the first time of her career. Last year saw her fall in round three when she lost to 14th seed Daria Kasatkina of Russia. However the 23 year old is currently on a 15 match winning streak, as she followed her maiden Grand Slam title up with a win at the Birmingham Classic beating Venus Williams and Julia Goerges en route.
Attempting to become the only woman to reach the quarter final of all three majors this year, the former professional cricketer has only dropped one set in her last 15 wins. She also boasts an 11-0 lead over American players this year, hoping to make that 12-0 today.
Having won their only meeting to date, Alison Riske finds herself a huge under dog on Court Two. The 29 year old beat Barty three years ago in the ITF Eastbourne tournament. Riske is also playing in the fourth round of a Grand Slam for a first time, despite it being her 9th main draw appearance at Wimbledon. She has previously been knocked out in the third round three times, most recently in 2017 CoCo Vandeweghe of South Africa. Overall she had lost in six third rounds before last week.
The only time Riske has played a number one ranked player was at the 2018 Roland Garros when she lost to eventual champion Simona Halep in the third round. The 8th highest American woman will hope to make her first Grand Slam quarter final.
